The CLL Support Association is a patient-run charity whose purpose is to provide support to CLL patients and their carers by keeping them informed of recent and relevant developments in CLL treatment and research. Members’ meetings allow all affected by CLL to spend time together and share their experiences, with opportunities provided to learn from each other and expert speakers.

Professor Andrew Pettit (Honorary Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital; Professor of Haematology and Head of Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine at the University of Liverpool; Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute Haematological Oncology Clinical Studies Group) has agreed to be the keynote speaker at the Liverpool meeting and he will be supported by members of his team.

The title of the talk will be: “CLL – recent progress and future challenges”

Lunch will be provided on the day and there is no charge!

This is the first meeting of the CLLSA in the north of England for some time and we would like as many people as possible from the local area to attend. If you are not a member of the CLLSA, you can join and register for the meeting by:

10:00 Arrival and registration (Refreshments to be served)

10.30 Introduction and welcome

10.45 Presentation by our keynote speaker, Professor Andrew Pettitt, Honorary Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital; Professor of Haematology and Head of Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine at the University of Liverpool; Chair of the National Cancer Research Institute Haematological Oncology Clinical Studies Group

Professor Pettitt’s talk is entitled “CLL – recent progress and future challenges” The talk will cover the biology of CLL, clinical features, prognostic factors, treatment, unmet needs and clinical trials. There will be an opportunity for questions.

13.00 Presentation from Jane Tinsley, Research Nurse, Royal Liverpool University Hospital (followed by questions).

Jane will outline the range of clinical trials currently taking place at Liverpool and will explore in detail the planning, management and effectiveness of one of the trials in partnership with one of her patients.
